What a weekend! You could have had my Friday night -- it was not a fun experience. JoAnne called me at 10:30pm to tell me that they had a dog dropped off. It was currently at her house but he was barking because he didn't want to be in the crate; that set off her dogs and everyone was barking/howling and she couldn't hear herself think -- could I find a foster home for this dog TONIGHT???? ...and, by the way, the dog doesn't like cats or large dogs. It always amazes me the fact that some dogs are so particular. One of my friends' dog got along fine with other dogs -- except "fluffy" dogs. If the dog coming toward it was "fluffy", well, there would be an issue. I never did figure out what the reason was but ... there you are. Anyway, I said to JoAnne - "You must be crazy. It's 10:30pm on a Friday night. I can't even think of a foster home that doesn't already have a cat or a large dog that is somewhere close to you. I can't ask someone to drive across town at 11pm. I'll have to think." Ten minutes later she called me back and I hadn't thought of anyone so I told her I'd take the dog and he could stay in my laundry room (completely separate from Luna) but at least he wouldn't have to be crated and would stop barking. Unfortunately, after I got him all comfy in the laundry room it became VERY apparent that being crated was not the reason he was barking. He was barking because he was ALONE in a strange place. Ask me how I know this -- yep, about 5:00am after listening to six hours of almost non-stop barking, I finally put Luna out in the car -- we would be leaving to go walking at 6 -- and I let him out of the laundry room. He promptly ran to the bedroom, jumped up on the bed, snuggled in and went to sleep. I actually heard him softly snoring. He was so happy just to be with someone. Saturday I was a zombie.

Amelia has settled in quite nicely in the spare bathroom. She is head-butting me and meowing for attention. She is SO MUCH NICER than she was at the store. I'll check the website to see if we have a picture of her available since it is painfully obvious that she will not be adopted through anyone seeing her at the store. She sure hates listening to those kittens cry...and she LOVES canned food ... it is her weakness.
