I just love August. It is such a great month - sunny, warm and the last harrah before school and Fall arrive. I left town again for awhile - Toby went tovisit over at the other foster home with the four kids -- they were so excited to have him visit. Luna didn't have any takers so she got room service at my house. I tried to keep them together but the thing about foster homes is -- they usually either have cats or dogs or both. Tobys' vice is chasing cats and Luna is wacky around other dogs so it was clear that it would be a challenge to find a foster home without other dogs and/or cats. It's OK - it worked out just as well. It was nice to pick up Toby and get him back home and Luna was happy to see us so - here we are. I've started just the smallest bit of training with these two for ten minutes a day Sit / Stay / Come / Break. They are getting better. Toby already knows sit and stay but he has a mind of his own. Luna is anxious to please but she doesn't have a clue what I'm asking her to do. Together, they do OK. We had the yard rototilled and bless their hearts if they didn't take advantage of that nice, soft dirt and just squeeze under the gate and go exploring. Fortunately they both came galloping back when I called them (Toby was only next door and Luna two houses away). I was happy to see some of the rain showers last week because it firmed up the ground again. Hopefully we will have a busy adoption weekend this Labor Day. We have so many kittens at the store that the room practically hums on it's own. Buddy is back - the adoption home with the other cat didn't work out. We didn't have any information on how he would do with another cat and now we know - he needs to be an only cat. We have a couple of new, shell-shocked cats who were found in their respective homes with their deceased owners. Talk about a change of pace to go from their home, to a foster home and then to PetSmart with all that commotion. They are nice cats and will hopefully find someone to love them again soon. Baby is still with us, too. She hates being in the cage but loves being out and walking around. Peter and Paul were adopted - they were such neat cats. We let them out to walk around frequently because they always stayed right in the cat area - even if a dog came through. Not too much seemed to rattle them. They were very mellow, relaxed cats. Well - here's to a great weekend!
